Description

Fruit for our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our own vineyards in Oakville and Stags Leap as well as from growers with whom we have long-term relationships. The combination of different terroirs elicits wonderfully concentrated, expressive wine.

Aromas: Plum, blackberry, licorice, chocolate, violet, and warm spice.

Flavours: Dark plum and black fruit carry through to the palate.

Body: Fresh and lively with plush tannins and a polished structure.

Vintage: 2021

ABV: 14.5%

The 2021 vintage was excellent and mild. After rains in January and February, the growing season remained dry. Temperatures were moderate and the weather optimal at budbreak in April and bloom in May. Weather remained even through summer and harvest, resulting in a lower-than-average yield with small, deeply concentrated grapes. The fruit was harvested by hand between September 13 and October 21. Several days of cold soak enhanced freshness and fruit character. The wine underwent secondary fermentation and 18 months aging in French oak (32% new).

VINEYARD SOURCING: The cooler climate and clay loam soils of Carneros provide fruit that adds elegance, while the increasingly warmer sites up the valley add the dark fruit flavors for which Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is renowned. A small amount of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot adds depth and complexity.
